Summary of Interdisciplinary Graduate Program

The MEM Interdisciplinary Graduate Program is a cooperative project of the Department of Mathematics and Information Sciences, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Tokyo Metropolitan University. It is supervised by the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program Promotion Office, which consists of teaching staff from these three departments. The program aims to equip students with the ability to think, create, and act from both a mathematical and engineering perspective, to develop professionals for higher education, science and technology, and industry, and to open up new career paths for students who have completed graduate school in their respective departments.

This program will include interdisciplinary lectures that transcend the traditional barriers between these departments. It will also hold periodic inter-departmental seminars and inter-departmental career-path seminars that welcome researchers and alumni who have been active in academic and industrial fields that overlap the domains of the mathematical and engineering sciences. In addition, the program will actively foster communication between members via a Social Network Service (SNS), promote interdisciplinary projects, and sponsor overseas internships.
